Directed by Charles K. Campbell, Escape 28 is based on the true story of 28 enslaved individuals who escaped from Boone County, Kentucky, in 1853. Seeking freedom beyond slavery, the group embarks on a dangerous journey across Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. However, their pursuit of liberty is met with relentless pursuit as wealthy plantation owners refuse to accept their escape and organize a determined manhunt across state lines.
As the group fights to survive and remain free, they must navigate constant danger, shifting alliances, and the ever-present threat of capture. Escape 28 highlights both the brutality of pursuit and the strength of those who risk everything for freedom.
